ABOUT GIABN
The Iberian Group for Naturalised Bathing Waters (GIABN) is a bi-national association of professionals in the field of planning and construction of biological pools/naturalised swimming pools, i.e. designers, builders, landscapers and nurserymen.
The GIABN disseminates and promotes the concept of biological swimming pools on the Iberian Peninsula, whether for private, tourist or public use.
HISTORY OF GIABN:
The idea of the GIABN was born in 2007 after a meeting in Mallorca of professionals in the area of natural pools, and so in 2008 it was officially constituted as a bi-national association. The five founding members - Peter Enge, Carles Pérez, Ignácio Pujol-Xicoy, Udo Schwarzer and Claudia Schwarzer - formed the first board of the GIABN.
In the first statutes, the association is formally linked to the now defunct Internationale Gesellschaft für Naturnahe BadeGeWässer, or IGB.
In 2009 the Iberian Group became a founding member of the new International Organization for natural Bathing waters, or IOB.
Currently the GIABN has more than 24 members throughout the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands.
OBJECTIVES
The main objectives and actions of the GIABN are focused on:
- Exchange of information on professional issues, and in particular for the dissemination of appropriate practices for the design and construction of naturalized swimming pools.
- Fostering relationships with researchers from universities and public bodies.
- Specific training for members through publications, congresses and other appropriate forms.
- Promote collaboration at international level.

CERTIFICATES OF GIABN
The certification granted by the GIABN to members who apply for it aims to assess and distinguish a company managed by a GIABN member.
The GIABN presents itself as an entity that supports projects or services provided by certified partners to end customers.
The GIABN can act as a mediator between the client and the company, providing an external perspective in the event of disagreement with the quality of the product or service provided.
The certified partner must inform the client in writing of the details of this certification and may use the following seal on their contractual documents.
The certification system covers not only the construction of naturalized swimming pools. Other services can also be certified, such as aquatic plant production or cleaning services.
